The Curlew Restaurant
Junction Road, Bodiam TN32 5UY
Just a few minutes away from the beautiful Bodiam Castle, The Curlew Restaurant brings Michelin starred dining to the heart of the East Sussex countryside. A former Coaching Inn, The Curlew Restaurant looks like you typical country pub and restaurant from the exterior, with its white weather board façade, but step inside and you'll find a whole other world. The dining room is sleek, elegant and simple with matt polished wood and gunmetal grey walls. Run by Mark and Sarah Colley, The Curlew Restaurant gained a coveted Michelin star in 2011 and was also awarded the “Best Eating Experience” at the Sussex Food and Drink Awards 2011. The aim of the Kitchen, headed up by Head Chef Neil McCue is summed up in four words – quality, locality, responsibility and seasonality- and his excellent Modern British menu reflects this ethos. Naturally the menus are ever changing but these sample dishes are just to give you an idea. Chop & Chips consisting of a beef Jacob's ladder with dripping potatoes, horseradish and soused fennel is a great way to start followed by mains such as roast loin of rabbit with spring veg broth and thigh cottage pie or line caught sea bass with wild garlic butter and bacon potato stew. The wine list spans the globe and is faithful to “terroir” wines wherever possible, there is also a superb choice of local ales and beers. The Curlew Restaurant is one very special dining destination and one that Sussex is extremely proud to call its own.
